About the club

West Hallam Junior Football Club is a registered Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) based in the United Kingdom, in the Derbyshire village of West Hallam. The club is currently one of the largest in Derbyshire and provides opportunities to play football to approximately 300 players aged between 5 and 18.  The club has both an annual membership fee and an ongoing subscription fee for matches and training sessions to cover costs.  Subscription fees start at £2 per match- more details available from team managers.

Monthly meetings are held to discuss club affairs and parents of players are very welcome to attend these meetings as guests. If you are a parent please speak to your current team manager if you wish to attend.  Our club uses various facilities around the West Hallam/Stanley area - our maps pages are being updated and will be available soon.

The club holds FA Charter Standard Development Club status and as such publishes a development plan and associated policies. Read about the Charter Mark here and read the current development plan here.

The clubs current constitution is available for viewing here.

Current club colours are Yellow and Blue, generally a yellow shirt with blue shorts and blue socks with away colours changing (in general) to a white shirt.

To help promote awareness of the club it introduced an ever evolving website in 2001. You are viewing the 2007-08 version of the site.

Brief Club History (provided by Leo Ktenidis)

Black and Ambers:

West Hallam has a long history of football. The Black and Ambers were the local team in the early 1920’s. The team got changed at the Punchbowl and played at Beech Lane Recreation Ground. At one match in the 1920’s there was a total eclipse of the sun. It became so dark that the match had to be cancelled.

Senior Team:

The senior team continued to thrive and promote football in the village, alongside the juniors.  An interesting dig into the archives for the 1984-5 season is below. You may even recognise one of the clubs current managers (contributor of the photograph) amongst the players. If anyone has any other photos of teams from years ago, or wishes to share memories of the clubs history please let us know.

Some more photos have been contributed by Derek Blockley who has had a long association with the club and is currently our Club Secretary (many thanks Derek), if anyone can date them please let us know.

Junior Football Team

The junior team was formed in 1980 and known as the West Hallam Junior Rams. It started out as a coaching club and was managed by Roger Green and Phil Kerry. They then started playing friendly matches, and so many people were getting involved that extra help was needed. This was provided by two parents Chris and Christine Shaw. The Club in 1982 joined the Junior Rams League and it was decided that sponsors were needed to allow the club to survive. John and Carol Hart were approached and agreed to sponsor the club. John sadly died a few years ago, but Carol has kept her interest in the Club and is the current Club President.

After a couple of years in the Junior Rams League the under 11’s joined the Saturday morning Derby League, and soon after that all the teams moved to the Derby League.

The name of the Club was then changed to West Hallam Junior Football Club. Shortly after this Roger Green and Phil Kerry decided to call it a day. But they left the club in a healthy position and thanks to many parents still being involved, the club is still going from strength to strength. At present the club is running teams from under 6’s to under 18’s.

The 2005-06 season saw the club return to playing football matches locally once more, with the use of Beech Lane for three of our teams, and underlining the club's commitment to promoting the sport within the village.
